Pomegranate Goddess
she was pomegranate bursting
red gems lining her heart
a woman of nature and creation
her touch unfolding hollyhocks
she was poetic after love thoughts
a mystic on land and in air
the turn in her hips stronger
from bearing too much over time
her spirit weighed down by demands
in man founded righteousness
her judgment day becoming longer
than life itself
her memory of collective grieving
inheritance lived out in everyday meanings
placed upon her shoulders
passed down reboso woven
with silk and fate
she was whole in body and soul
her learning to live while dying
never good enough for mass saving
condemned by made up accusations
no one wants to believe
a past that struggles with realities
of killing in the name
of someone else’s god
the blame in woman sacrifice
she was wild full dancing
bare skin sighing
soft smile inviting
butterfly floating tracing breath
warming collarbone her sensation
a nature given tendency
she could not deny enlightenment
in tears overcoming consequence
her willingness explained
in love and tragedy
surviving forever in unending
blasphemy for being
a pomegranate goddess.
